Just tell DietPal what you ate, in your own words. Typing is the most accurate way to log, because you can state exactly how much.
How to do it
Send a message like:
- "150 g chicken breast and 100 g rice"
- "two eggs, a slice of toast with butter, and a black coffee"
- "a medium banana"
DietPal replies with each item, its calories and macros, and your running total for the day.
Tips for accuracy
- Give amounts when you can. Grams are best ("200 g pasta"); household measures work too ("one cup", "a tablespoon of olive oil").
- List items separately so each one is looked up correctly.
- Mention how it's cooked. Raw versus cooked, fried versus grilled, with or without oil — these change the calories meaningfully.
What happens next
DietPal looks up every item in a verified nutrition database and shows the result with a confidence level — it doesn't make numbers up. If a portion is ambiguous, it asks you a single quick question instead of guessing. After logging, you'll see today's total and your 7-day average.
