DietPal plans backwards from the date you want to reach your goal — so your target date matters as much as your goal weight. You can change either one any time.
How to change them
Just tell your coach in plain words, for example:
- "I want to reach 75 kg."
- "Can I hit my goal by 1 September?"
- "Let's aim for a slower pace."
DietPal recalculates your daily calorie target and your projected timeline on the spot.
DietPal keeps your pace safe
There's a healthy speed limit for weight change. DietPal caps your plan at a safe rate — about 1% of your body weight per week at most — in line with guidance from health bodies such as the CDC and NICE. This protects muscle and keeps the results sustainable.
Because of that limit:
- If your date is achievable safely, DietPal builds the plan to hit it.
- If your date is too soon, DietPal won't pretend. It tells you two honest numbers instead:
- the weight you can realistically reach by your chosen date, and
- the date you'd reach your full goal at a safe pace.
You then choose which to follow. DietPal will never quote you a target it knows isn't safe or realistic.
Want to get there faster?
The healthy way to bring your date closer isn't to eat less — it's to add movement. If you tell DietPal you can fit in a daily walk, it folds that calorie burn into your plan and your timeline moves up accordingly.
